Our Charities & a special message

The Stitch & Bitch of Westchester County is proud to participate, year-round, in several charity projects. Your participation allows us to donate to a number of causes, in our community.

Donated Acrylic yarn is often used for our charity projects. We look forward to and appreciate yarn donations from you, and the local community. All items should be made with Acrylic yarn, soft baby yarn, for hats.

You may use any pattern you like.

List of our Charity Projects:

Preemie Hats & Blankets – benefiting the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. Hats preemie size, and blankets: 8″x11″ and 8.5″x14″. Susan W collects these.

Warm Hats – Newborn baby hats for White Plains Hospital. Newborn size for boys/girls. Lois collects these.

Our Lucille Project (in memory of our beloved member, Lucille Subbiando). – Hats, scarves, gloves, cowls go to a local family shelter (The Coachmen). Items for children and adult size men/women. Dahlia collects these.

Montrose VA Nursing Home Project – Lap robes, throws/ afghans/blankets, for our local Veterans home. Kathy F collects these.

Meet-up on Friday, July 29th

The Stitch & Bitch will meet-up on Friday, July 29th, 1-3 p.m. @ Panera.

Summer in full swing and some ladies are away or busy with Summer activities. I get asked each week, “are we meeting”? With a group as large as ours someone is usually around to stitch. I usually arrive early to claim our back table. If you arrive earlier (or I’m not there) just do the same.

Meet-up on June 10th. Please read note…

The Stitch & Bitch will meet-up at our Panera, this Friday,  6/10, 1-3 pm.

Ladies, as a group we celebrate the best of times and rally around during challenging and difficult times. I’m writing, with permission from our dear Barb B. Over the past few weeks she has been dealing with a lot and coping with the nerve-wracking uncertainty involved with being diagnosed – in her case with Melanoma. It is early stage 1, the doctor said it is unlikely to have spread and they are taking every precaution. She is being treated at one of the best hospitals: Memorial Sloan Kettering. Surgery will be done early morning Thursday, 6/9. Please keep Barb, her doctors and her family in prayer.

Will keep you posted.
