One time Charity Project!

The Stitch & Bitch is joining the Welcome Blanket  Project making welcome blankets for refugees & immigrants. They’re accepting blankets until 11/5.

The goal is to stitch and assemble as many blankets as we can out of the 8×8″ squares. Each blanket will be 40″. The museum is offering free shipping Smart Museum of Art, in Chicago. The blankets are on display through December.

I’m calling on you to make exactly 8″x 8″ squares – use 4 ply Acrylic yarn (only). You may knit or crochet, using any pattern you like, any color.

We’ll have a “joining party” when we gather enough squares. Let’s do it, ladies!

Summer in full swing and some ladies are away or busy with Summer activities. I get asked each week, “are we meeting”? With a group as large as ours someone is usually around to stitch. I usually arrive early to claim our back table. If you arrive earlier (or I’m not there) just do the same.

Also, Woodlands Middle school knitting club are knitting cotton items for those formerly displaced now entering new homes gifting them knitted dishcloths, etc. This club could use Cotton yarn donations. SUGAR AND CREAM COTTON YARN NEEDED

I would be great to encourage the young knitters in our community to continue helping others. I’d like to collect a bag (or two) from the Stitch & Bitch and donate it to Nancy for distribution. If you’re interested in donating to the small collection I just started, bring in either Cotton (Lily Sugar & Cream/Peaches & Creme). – every ball/cone of cotton helps, it all adds up in the end!  I will collect it until 4/30.

Dear Ladies of Stitch and Bitch,
Your welcome yesterday was overwhelming as were your generosity and caring during my hospital stay.
There were gifts of food, prayers, words of encouragement , calls, cards telling Milt and I what wonderful support we had .
We share our love of yarn and it is what “knits” us together as loving, supportive community .
Thank you for all you have given us.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Love, Susan
