As many of you know we are working on a new charity project. We do a lot of charity, for local groups. This is our first international group project. I’m excited to be a part of something with such reach. It’s simple, we make 8″x 8″ squares (crocheted/knitted) to give to KAS: Knit-A-Square Please watch the video on their homepage which explains how it works. They also have many links for patterns, ideas, etc.
How we can help: make squares, out of any yarn (as long as it’s warm), any color! The squares MUST BE 8″x 8″. Leave a 20″ tail which is used to sew the blankets up. The squares are then assembled by a team of volunteers in Africa, who will stitch them together making blankets. The blankets are then distributed to orphaned/abandoned children in South Africa, many of these children also have AIDS.
This is the first square made:
Crocheted: I just found this site for a number of 8″x8″ patterns: <a href=”http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/8in_squares.php”>http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/8in_squares.php
