Valentine’s Day 2012 = Veterans hat & scarf project

A huge round of applause to all of the ladies of our fabulous Stitch & Bitch, we made 38 beautiful hats and some scarves for our 2012 charity project for our local Veterans at the American Legion Post 135. It was a huge success!! We used both acrylic like Lion Brand Yarn’s, Vanna’s Choice, Wool Ease and other washable wool. Panera generously gave us a $100 cash donation and two boxes of their large pink glazed heart shaped Valentine’s cookies for the Veterans. Thank you Amy, Manager of Panera Cafe (1 N Broadway in White Plains) and district manager, Thomas for your continued support. We are grateful! This is the second year our Panera has supported our charity project. Patty (Panera employee & fiber artist herself) carefully packed the cookies up. I made two boxes of Ghirardelli chocolate brownies and bought several bags of Dove chocolates which filled a generous size Rubbermaid.

A large garment Rubbermaid filled with the hats & scarves and a shopping bag  of sweet treats was delivered on Valentine’s Day. Terry Morrisette, Assistant Commander of the Post was pleasantly surprised and gladly accepted the all of the goodies.
